This series comprises
popular stories from Indian classics, the Panchatantra
and
the Jataka. The Panchatantra is one of the earliest
books of fables and started travelling from India,
the land of its origin before 570 AD. Since then more
than 200 versions have been executed in more
than fifty languages.
In the Karadi Tales Heritage Series some of the more popular stories have been grippingly
adapted by Shobha Viswanath,
to lend themselves to the audio format. The
dynamic background music, sound effects and
foot-tapping songs have been created by 3
Brothers & A Violin.
Lending voice to Karadi,
the storytelling bear, are Naseeruddin
Shah and Saeed Jaffrey, stalwarts from Indian
theatre and film who bring the stories alive
with flawless diction, clear pronunciation and
a pace that keeps the child rapt in attention.
Each story is about 1600 words
and 22-24 minutes long, and contains 2 songs.
