Many things happen Under the Banyan. Weary travellers rest in its shade, wise men meditate, villagers sit together to settle disputes. They also listen to stories.

This series presents folk stories from different parts of India. Adapted by Dr. Vayu Naidu and Sandhya Rao the stories are brought alive through the wonderful narration of the inimitable singer Usha Uthup and the effervescent and vivacious actress Nandita Das.
Set against the backdrop of a vibrant musical score by 3 Brothers & A Violin, the stories transport the listener to the land of its origin.

The illustrations and music of each story reflect the unique flavour of the region from where the story hails, giving the child a veritable cultural feast of the sights and sounds of India.

Each story is about 1200 words and 22 minutes long, and includes 2 full length songs.
