BILINGUAL STORYTELLING AT GOETHE INSTITUT

Children between the ages of 4 and 8 participated in a bilingual story-reading and storytelling session (English and German) of When The Earth Lost its Shapes by Shobha Viswanath, illustrated by Christine Kastl, on 19 April 2019 at the Goethe-Institut Library, Chennai.

The children listened to this magical story about a time when the Earth suddenly loses all its shapes, and they picked up some key German words along the way. This was followed by a short, fun activity in which all the kids were given Little Dot (the hero of this story) masks that they got to take home with them.

DEEP COMPREHENSION FOR DEEP LEARNING

REIMAGINING THE ENGLISH CLASSROOM

This workshop was attended by teachers from D.A.V. School, Chennai. The keynote speaker for the event, Preetika Venkatakrishnan, Vice President – Product and Training at Karadi Path, spoke about how language is absorbed in the classroom, and how language proficiency impacts all learning.  She conducted a series of interactive exercises and discussions. The workshop presented some new insights into linguistic intelligence, and the process of learning and language acquisition. She concluded that as teaching and learning are two sides of the same coin, it is important to be a learner throughout one’s life to be able to teach others.
