Editorial Assistant/Publishing Assistant

The role

  1. Reviewing manuscripts and providing feedback to the rest of the editorial team with suggestions on what can be modified or tweaked to make the story work better.
  2. Basic line editing of manuscripts.
  3. Creating and sending out the monthly newsletter, as well as emailers announcing new products, sales, etc.
  4. Ensuring there is a backup of all information (reviews, awards, the latest word documents, latest PDFs etc), and maintaining a regularly updated archive.
  5. Identifying new illustrators who might work for our projects.
  6. Writing blog posts on topics relevant to the children’s publishing industry.
  7. Liaising with international publishers in setting up appointments for International book fairs as well as opportunities for Rights Sales.
  8. Working closely with the design team on both creatives for marketing, as well as on book layout and design.
  9. Creating metadata sheets for the sales and accounts departments whenever required.
  10. Working with the marketing team to create promotional materials and social media plans.
  11. Planning, creating and executing book launches: this will involve coordination with resource people and venues.
  12. Participating in book-related fairs, festivals and conferences where the company is involved.
  13. Handling our social media accounts: this will involve posting on our social media pages in keeping with the weekly schedules provided by the marketing team.
  14. Basic management of the Karadi Tales website (tasks such as uploading new products and creating coupon codes).
  15. Reporting to the Senior Editor of Karadi Tales Company.

Knowledge, skills and experience (Click to expand)

  1. Fresh graduates and professionals with around 2 years relevant work experience and knowledge of children’s book publishing and digital resources especially in the K-6 range.
  2. Well organised.
  3. Strong communication and language skills – oral, written and presentational.
  4. Creative writing skills
  5. Knowledge of Excel, Microsoft Word, and Powerpoint.
  6. Knowledge on the workings of social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
  7. Strong communication and negotiation skills – oral, written, and presentational.
  8. Team player with excellent interpersonal skills.
  9. Excellent attention to detail.
  10. Experience in teaching or an educational environment would be advantageous.
  11. An avid reader of all genres of books.
  12. Proactive and able to set priorities under pressure
  13. Ability to work effectively with all levels of management
  14. Knowledge of design software would be an advantage.

Graphic Designer

The role

A Graphic Designer conceptualises and creates designs and layouts for books, and other materials including trailers, CD inlays, marketing creatives, etc. with a keen sense of aesthetics.At Karadi Tales, we would also like the graphic designer to manage the day-to-day handling of social media channels and create engaging multimedia content, in addition to helping the team develop creative and engaging social media strategies.

Expected:

  1. Expertise in design software: CorelDraw, Adobe Photoshop, and Illustrator.
  2. Expertise in visual design.
  3. Basic knowledge of video-editing.
  4. Social media knowledge.
  5. 1-3 years of experience.

Requirements:

  1. Mastery of the specified design software.
  2. Good communication skills in English.
  3. An eye for detail; an ability to determine proportion, size, style, material, etc. of illustration.
  4. Innovative, creative, patient, and meticulous in both content and presentation.

Digital Marketing Head (Remote)

Karadi Tales is looking for a skilled and result-driven Digital Marketing Head who’ll lead all our marketing activities from social media and digital campaigns to advertising and creative projects. We are looking for someone who will be responsible for setting up, implementing and managing the company’s digital marketing strategy overall. 

As Digital Marketing Head, you should have in-depth marketing experience and a passion for digital technologies. You will work closely with different teams to ensure consistency through all digital marketing channels. You should also provide forward-thinking ideas to build and maintain a strong company web presence.

Responsibilities (Click to expand)

  • Crafting strategies for all Marketing avenues, including Digital, Advertising, Communications and Creative 
  • Providing content for social media creatives and working closely with the design team to put up regular, relevant and engaging content that boosts sales and following.  
  • Preparing and managing monthly, quarterly and annual budgets for the Marketing department 
  • Conceptualizing, creating, and implementing timely and engaging ads for all digital platforms including social media and other online distributors such as Amazon, etc.  
  • Design branding, positioning and pricing strategies 
  • Analyze consumer behaviour and determine customer personas 
  • Identify opportunities to reach new market segments and expand market share 
  • Working with online retailers /distributors (such as Cloudtail, Firstcry, etc.) and coming up with strategies to expand our products in the online market
  • Ensure our brand message is strong and consistent across all channels and marketing efforts (like events, email campaigns, web pages and promotional material) 
  • Coordinate sales and marketing efforts to boost brand awareness 
  • Measure ROI and KPIs 
  • Oversee all the company’s social media accounts   
  • Track SEO and Google Analytics data and make complex analysis  
  • Build an inbound marketing plan  
  • Anticipate sales performance trends

  • 3+ years of work experience in Digital Marketing or any other related field. 
  • Experience running successful marketing campaigns 
  • Strong communicative skills, spoken and written. Creative/Copywriting skills highly desirable. 
  • Solid knowledge of web analytics and Google Adwords 
  • Experience with SEO, Google Analytics and CRM software 
  • Familiarity with web design   
  • Excellent analytical and project management skills  
  • Experience with design software (Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.) is preferred    
  • A graduate degree in Digital Marketing or a relevant field is preferred
