The Young Narrator Contest was created to encourage young voices to step into the world of storytelling. What began as a small idea has grown into something truly magical. Now in its second season, the contest has received 500+ submissions from across India, each bursting with creativity and heart.

Ugyen Dorjee Yolmo
Grade 1
Ugyen Dorjee Yolmo is a Class 1 student from Kolkata, who fell in love with books at the age of three! When he isn’t lost in a story, he is busy creating his own comics, chasing a football, or practising his Taekwondo kicks as a proud Purple Belt. He also has his very own YouTube channel with his Aama “Udy and Aama”. A storyteller at heart, Ugyen dreams of growing up to be an influential voice and giving a TED Talk someday.

Grade 3
Laya is a grade 3 student from Bangalore with an imagination that rarely sits still. She is happiest curled up with a book, disappearing into many worlds and resurfacing only when absolutely necessary. Her love for stories spills into her love for art and craft. Give her a story and she’ll imagine the world beyond its pages; give her paper, colours, scissors, and she’ll happily create it. While books may feed her imagination, the quickest route to her heart is decidedly more delicious: a crispy Bengaluru benne dosa or a towering gud-bud ice cream!

Alisha Sarangthem, a Grade 4 student from Bengaluru holds a multitude of interests! A proud bookworm, her favourite imaginary worlds keep switching between Harry Potter and Percy Jackson! She loves art and dance – two joyful ways to let her imagination run free. She wears her heart on her sleeve and takes on challenges with a fierce determination that refuses to let her give up easily. Imaginative, expressive and endlessly curious, Alisha has a gift for making even the simplest idea magical with her storytelling abilities.
