FANTASTIC REVIEWS

“…the narrative style, and the creative use of collective nouns makes it an engaging read…The illustrations are detailed and rich, and will especially appeal to readers who have a leaning towards fantasy…a wonderfully told verse story, jam-packed with beautiful words and phrases and topped off with a good dose of humour.”
– Goodbooks on A Tangle of Brungles by Shobha Viswanath, illustrated by Culpeo S. Fox.

“With its spare narrative, this story will appeal to imaginative children, who will find humor in the outlandish situations Meena and her camel find themselves in. In a storytime setting, young listeners will likely join in on the titular refrain, “Get off that camel!” The detail-rich illustrations, providing a fanciful window into everyday life in India, encourage repeated browsing.”

The children also took part in a crafts activity where they made carry-bags from old newspapers in keeping with the story’s theme on upcycling.

WHAT WE’RE READING

A beautifully illustrated rhyming tale, full of mystery and suspense, about things that go bump in the night.

Grandmas From Mars by Michelle Robinson, illustrated by Fred Blunt
Fred and Nell’s grandma is babysitting, and the kids couldn’t be happier. But hang on, there’s something not quite right about her…In fact, she’s acting very strangely indeed. And is that a spare eyeball? A tail? A striped tongue? That’s NOT their grandma; it’s an alien. RUN!
Find out how Fred and Nell overcome the invasion by grandmas from Mars (and get their own grandma back!) in this completely crazy and brilliantly bonkers, fun and irreverent picture book.
